What the Windows installer does

  • Installs for your Windows account only
  • Offers desktop and Start Menu shortcuts
  • Adds XOV to Installed apps, with an uninstaller
  • Can launch XOV as soon as it finishes

The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn that it is unrecognized. Check the hash, then choose More info and Run anyway.

GET STARTED ON ANDROID

Browsing, on your phone.

Download the APK, open it on your Android device, and follow Android's installation prompts. Android may ask whether the downloading app can install an APK.

This is a debug build for testing, distributed directly from this website. Check the APK checksum before installing. Updates currently require downloading a new APK from this page.

  • Downloads through Android DownloadManager
  • Known ad-domain blocking with XOV Shield

Windows password import, DPAPI encryption, and Windows file-default registration do not apply to this Android build. See Android feature details.

Install guide

Install on Windows in three steps

The installer is a short setup wizard. Nothing runs in the background afterwards.

  1. Run the installer

    Open XOV-Browser-Setup-1.0.0.exe from your Downloads folder. If SmartScreen appears, choose More info, then Run anyway.

  2. Let it install for your account

    XOV is copied to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\XOV Browser. No admin prompt, and other accounts on the PC are not affected.

  3. Pick shortcuts and launch

    Choose desktop and Start Menu shortcuts, keep Launch XOV Browser when finished ticked, and click Finish.

Verify

Check the Windows installer

Run either command in the folder that holds the Windows installer and compare the result with the Windows SHA-256 value. To verify the Android APK, replace the filename in the command with XOV-Browser-Android-1.0.0.apk and compare with the APK SHA-256 value in the Android section.

Updating

Updates are manual. For Windows, download and run the latest installer. For Android, download the latest APK and follow the device installation prompts.

Uninstalling

Open Windows Settings, then Apps, then Installed apps. Find XOV Browser by CoderXpoint and choose Uninstall.
